AM radio reception can be very problematic in large city buildings and apartment blocks. The background noise levels in the AM band have increased significantly since the band was planned and this has reduced the effective range of AM transmitters.
ADSL and BDSL transmission use frequencies that are in the AM radio band and this can further complicate reception in dwellings and offices. Aitken & Partners have studied this problem and can offer solutions that give stable, high quality reception at a reasonable cost.
AM radio transmission is a special interest for Aitken & Partners. We have worked on many AM sites, ranging from tunnel transmission systems to major broadcasting sites with 10 kW transmitters. We have the test equipment and knowledge required to design, commission and proof test AM radio facilities.

FM radio transmission chains, the transmitters and antennas require special care. Aitken & Partners took over the business of Ian Hill and Associates some years ago and through this gained knowledge and experience in FM radio transmission. A related company was the Australian distributor for SIEL FM transmitters for a number of years, during which time Aitken & Partners supplied the engineering knowledge and expertise for the installation and commissioning of FM transmitters ranging from 20 W to 10 kW, both solid state and single tube output.

From the inception of the practice, Aitken & Partners have been involved with television transmission systems. Our practice designed the majority of the transmission system for Mackay Television MVQ6, adding transmitters and translators for Moranbah, Glenden, Tieri, Dysart and Clermont. We have experience in coverage design, reliability analysis and performance reviews.
Throughout Australia and New Zealand there are major radio, television and satellite broadcast monitoring centres for Media Monitors. Aitken & Partners designed and commissioned monitoring centres in each capital city of Australia and in Wellington, New Zealand.
